Our Father knows what's best for us,
So why should we complain ----
We always want the sunshine
But He knows there must be rain.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

Proverbs 28:25 " He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat. "

Today, trust in God's wisdom and in His designs. Recognize that some patterns, as do some days, require more discipline and attention than others.

Nothing on earth
Can make life more worthwhile
Than the sunshine and warmth
Of a beautiful smile.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

Proverbs 21: 29. " A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way. "

Today, soften your heart and your facial expression.

Proverbs 23:25. " Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. "

Recall the tender and kind actions of a loving mother. Wink

To live a little better,
Always be forgiving.
Add a little sunshine
To the world in which we're living.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:" Proverbs 25:21.

Today, add some personal sunshine to the world around you --- the kind of sunshine that comes from forgiveness.

Love can't be bought,
It is priceless and free ---
Love, like pure magic,
Is a sweet mystery.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." - THE PROVERBS 4:23.

Today, remind yourself that love comes from above because God is Love.

Like roses in a garden,
Kindness fills the air
With a certain bit of sweetness
As it touches everywhere.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit." - THE PROVERBS 15:4.

Today, soften some hard hearts with your kindness. Which do you prefer --- a harsh wind or a mild breeze; a severe blow or a gentle touch? Kindness is always the desired choice.

Hebrews 2:1-4...

Whether it was the miracle of tongues (speaking in a language unknown to the speaker), healing (having the ability to restore an individual --- without medical means --- who was diseased, injured, or deformed), prophesying (speaking forth a divine message by direct revelation from God), or knowledge (understanding God's direct revelation, especially regarding the new "mystery," the church), all such miraculous gifts were necessary in the first century church. It was vital for the church saints --- Jew and Gentile --- to have the ability to comprehend what God was doing, to understand the changes taking place in His programs for Israel and the new body, the church. All of those miracles have now ceased. No further need exists for them today because we have the completed canon of Scripture in our possession (1 Corinthians 13:10).

Many may disagree with this interpretation and application of today's text, namely, that the miraculous sign-gifts have ceased. However, the burden of proof is on them to biblically demonstrate beyond any shadow of doubt that the so-called sign-gifts of today are equivalent to those done in the early, first-century church. Furthermore, they would need to scripturally show that today's alleged "miracles" function for the same purposes as they did then. The fact is, they cannot do so. It is impossible to prove the two are even similar, let alone identical. The modern charismatic denigrates the authority, integrity, and purpose of the miracles described in the Bible when claiming that sign-gifts still operate today. Believer, do not be fooled into thinking the charismatic movement is a valid presentation of biblical Christianity; it is anything but that! - Gary D. Freel (copied).

God comes closest to us
When our souls are in repose...
Like petals dropping soundlessly
From a full-blown rose.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"THE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake." - Psalm 23 verses one, two, and three.

Today, make your life a living sanctuary for Jesus.

Each time you look up in the sky
Or watch the fluffy clouds drift by
Or touch a leaf or see a tree,
It's all God whispering, "This is Me."
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"THE heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork." Psalm 19:1.

Today, no matter where you look, know that God is near.

There's a lot of comfort in the thought
That sorrow, grief and woe
Are sent into our lives sometimes
To help our souls to grow.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence and his children shall have a place of refuge." - Proverbs 14:26.

Today, accept your personal disappointments uncomplainingly. Showers are needed for flowers to grow, and some tears are necessary in our lives to promote our inner growth.

Thank You, God, for brushing
The dark clouds from my mind
And leaving only sunshine
And joy of heart behind...
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy." - Proverbs 14:10.

Today, display an unselfish heart.

Teach me, dear God,
To not rush ahead,
But to pray for Your guidance
And to trust You instead.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it ishis glory to pass over a transgression." - Proverbs 19:11.

Today, do not worry. Worry is like riding a carousel; you keep going around, but you get nowhere.

Lord, don't let me stumble,
Don't let me fall and quit,
Lord, please help me find my job
And help me shoulder it.

- Helen Steiner Rice

Proverbs 3:21, 23 (KJV)

"My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble."

Today, practice perseverance.

Like a soaring eagle
You too can rise above
The storms of life around you
On the wings of prayer and love.

- Helen Steiner Rice.

‎"Be merciful unto me, O GOD, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast." Psalm 57:1

Today, a prayer and an expression of love can lift a depressed spirit.

I sometimes think that friendliness
Is like a cheerful song....
It makes the good days better,
And it helps when things go wrong.
- Helen Steiner Rice.

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him." - Psalm 28:7(KJV)

Today, a song in the heart will put a smile on the face, and so will calling on a friend.
