Well, why not? Laughing

Sometimes we come across stuff on the 'net and here's the place to post it. Something old, something new, but ALL should be worth reading. Wink

ENJOY!

"A 15 y/o got an A+ for this entry. Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word 'God' is mentioned; a student in Arizona wrote the below NEW school prayer:

~NEW Pledge of Allegiance~

Now I sit me down in school - Where praying is against the rule - For this great nation under God - Finds mention of Him very odd.

If scripture now the class recites - It violates the Bill of Rights - And anytime my head I bow - Becomes a federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green - That's no offense - it's a freedom scene - The law is specific - the law is precise - Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice - For praying in a public hall - Might offend - someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate - God's Name is prohibited by the state - We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks - And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks - They've outlawed guns - but FIRST the Bible - To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen - And the 'unwed daddy' - our Senior King - It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong - We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls - Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles - But the Ten Commandments are not allowed - No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess - When chaos reigns - the school's a mess - So, Lord, this silent plea I make - Should I be shot - My soul please take! Amen"

"Later at home, after supper was eaten, Mam lingered around the table with Mandy and Lizzie. She put another piece of peach pie on her plate, added a bit of ice cream and said, "Mmm!"

Lizzie grinned at Mam, "I know. That pie is still warm. Did you ever notice how it is with pie and ice cream? You don't always have quite enough ice cream to finish your pie, then you don't have quite enough pie to finish your ice cream, and it just goes on and on."

Mam laughed, "Oh, I know exactly what you mean. I could eat that whole pie!"

ADD COLOUR TO YOUR LIFE

> If a room has many windows and doors, be sure the trim is not painted an intense colour, or the room will look too broken up.

> Paint a room from the top down. Start with the ceiling, continue with the walls, and then move on to the doors and trim. If you want to paint the floor, do it last.

> Keep track of the brand and colour of the paint in a room by writing the information on the back of a light switch plate before you put it back on.

http://bible.org/article/258-theology-questions-and-answers#258

Here is a sight where 258 theological questions are discussed. Some may have no interest in any of the questions and some computers may not allow viewing the presentations. ( I bet Lori's new laptop will). I have found questions 27-31 to be most intersting and recommend them. If anyone looks and finds anything interesting mayby they would share.

"Real freedom-loving, God-fearing, patriotic Americans are sick of liberalism, but are also now just as sick of faux conservatives. The Republicans had their chance, but blew it.

The authentic conservatives left in this party are the ones with enough character and sense to see that they need to stop clinging to a name, heritage and tradition and be guided once again by principles, not platitudes.

It is time to reject those who only want another term in office and a lucrative retirement. Time is short, freedom is shrinking, and November is coming. It’s now or never. If a real change is not made in November, then it’s over for this nation."

~Joseph Harris

Who is Joseph Harris and what chance did the Republicans have and blow?

Granny, my dear friend and long term Pastor, Clifford Tennyson, said from time to time that he believed that God did not see us as being nearly as bad as we tended to see ourselves at times. He cited Jesus not being as strict as the Scribes and Pharisees and the picture of humanity as described in the Bible and in non Biblical history. Relatively speaking which is how he was speaking I think he was probably right. We are human and we stumble along but IMO most people want to do what is right. As long as that is true I think we should not despair but encourage each other and rejoice that we live in a far from perfect but truly great country.

Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own. --- William Hazlitt.

The Reluctant Reader

If a child you know avoids reading books, you may be able to encourage a love of reading with a new approach.

> Keep on reading aloud to the child long after she has learned to read. Many children love the coziness and relaxation of sitting with you rather than reading alone.

> Limit TV and computer use. If necessary, offer rewards for reading.

> Find a chapter book that is exciting to the child and get in the habit of reading a chapter a night aloud.

> Go with a child's interests rather than your own. If your son thinks of nothing but baseball, go to the library and find books about the game.

> Children love to receive mail, so subscribe in their names to suitable magazines and book clubs.

Good morning, listener! Smile Was he the pastor before the jokester, Dennis Swanberg? I remember watching an elderly man on tv years ago and didn't he retire or pass away? I am prolly wrong on all that so forgive me.

Joseph Harris has been a college professor and pastor since 1987. His writings have appeared on WND, Sword of the Lord, Intellectual Conservative, Conservative Daily News, Canada Free Press and Land of the Free. I get his emails and quote him from time to time.

This is his latest "Dose of Reality" but since it was rather long, I only quoted part. You can read it in length on WorldNetDaily if you'd like:

(my machine has a hard time pulling these up, so I won't repost it in length)

Cleaning Up around the House

> To remove spray starch form the bottom of an iron, rub the plate with a baking soda and water paste. Wipe it off with a clean cloth.

> To clean cobwebs from hard-to-reach corners, slip an old sock over the end of a yardstick and fasten it with a rubber band. Reach up into corners and twirl the yardstick to gather up the cobwebs.

> A can opener is a handy tool for removing old grout from between tiles.

> Don't be in a big hurry to sweep all the ashes out of the fireplace. An inch or two of ashes makes a good base for a fire.

> To remove a bloodstain from carpet, sprinkle it with salt, then cold water. Gently blot the area with a wet sponge (do not rub), then dab it with paper towels until dry.

Granny, Dr Tennyson was the pastor before Dennis Swanberg and was our pastor for about three decades. He retired in part because of the onset of Alzheimers. He moved to Tennessee as I recall to be where his son was as his wife was in bad health also. Both he and his wife have since died.

I just remembered another interesting thing he said which I posted once along the line. His dad was a minister and He told me once He had no fear of God because he knew God would forgive him but that he hoped his dad never found out about all his weaknesses. He was mostly kidding I think but I have never forgotten him saying that.

Things To Do Outdoors

For gardeners and landscapers who are itching to get to work outside despite the snow cover, there actually are a few tasks best done now.

> Prune up to a quarter of a mature peach tree.

> Prune grapes now, removing most of the old wood.

> If you see coal black knobs on fruit tree branches---a fungus called black knot---prune and immediately burn all affected limbs. (Spores can develop and spread if prunings are left on the ground or in a brush pile.) Disinfect your pruning shears with bleach.

> Sharpen all your garden tools, especially shovels and edgers, to make work easier in the spring.

> When stacking brush for burning, arrange it compactly and all in the same direction. This makes the pile denser and easier to burn.

> Take advantage of frozen ground by trucking loads of manure out to the garden.

Cherry Trivia

* Most sour or pie cherries sold in this country are Montmorency cherries, grown mainly in New England, around the Great Lakes, and the Great Plains.

* Adding 1/4 teaspoon almond extract to cherry pie results in a richer flavour.

* Cherry pie or cobbler many help combat bloating, gout, or trouble with swollen joints.

THE DASH.

How are we doing with our dash?

You know, the space on the tombstone between our date of birth and date of death.

Our dash through life is brief.

What we do with our dash determines where we spend our eternity. Are we helping others with their dash?

What will others say when our dash is over? What do they say now? More important what is GOD saying?

What will HE say when our dash is up?

Welcome home good and faithful servant or depart from ME I never knew you?

Eternity is to long to be wrong.

Share this, you may help someone with their dash and eternity.

Matthew 25:21. "His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

---- Bill Smith, "Amen, the best way to spread the gospel is to share the gospel."

A Few Lines on Laundry Day

> Use either powdered or liquid laundry detergents. They work the same way but may need to be used in different amounts. Personal preference reigns here.

> Before you launder anything, close all zippers, hooks, and buttons; empty all pockets; and remove pins or belt buckles. Even better, train your family members to do this for themselves.

> Don't overload your washer. The clothes simply won't get clean, and overloading puts too much stress on the machine.

> If your water is hard, add 1/2 cup white vinegar to the rinse. Vinegar softens the water, reduces lint, and keeps hard-water scale from building up inside the machine.

Tooth Tips

> Instead of commercial tooth whiteners, make a paste of baking soda and a feew drops of hydrogen peroxide. Brush gently with it to remove tooth stains, then rinse well.

> Let teething babies chew on a frozen bagel to ease their swollen gums.

> If a child knocks out a permanent tooth, immerse it in milk and take it (and the child) to the dentist immediately. Sometimes the tooth can be reimplanted.

> To combat bacteria that proliferate in the mouth during sleep, brush teeth immediately upon wakening and again after breakfast. Go one step further: Brush your tongue or gently scrape it with the edge of a spoon to keep bacteria at bay.

> Choose desserts that won't stick to your teeth for hours. A milk chocolate bar is easier on the enamel than a chewy granola bar.
