Here is the projected snowfall for the upcoming storm for the midwest and northeast. Snow will fall as far South as Texas and all the way up to Maine. Those areas missing the snow this time around have a better chance of seeing snow for the next storm on the 30th

Very busy Tuesday night in the world of Weather. We are also watching the storm for the Northeast. Once again we are reminding people in Sandy affected areas to make sure they have their flashlights and batteries ready to go and to fill their generators with gas for the Wed/Thur storm. Power outages and bad coastal flooding is likely.

From our friend, Meteorologist Craig Allen: 'The intensity of this storm could produce 30-50 mph gusts with the potential of near hurricane force gusts near the coast. Tree and powerline damage is unfortunately a good bet again so have batteries and flashlights ready and gas up the generator just in case.

Even worse, our storm ravaged coastline and beaches may take another beating. Tides could run 3 to 5 feet above normal and we are approaching the full moon (on Friday). Offshore waves could run 12-18 feet high and propagate towards land. This willr esult in new beach erosion and coastal inundation at high tide. No, this is not as bad as Sandy thank goodness but sand reclamation and rebuilding of dunes has only just started and may not be able to hold back the surging ocean.'

Here is Meteorologist Jim Rinaldi's snow forecast for the upcoming storm for Wed into Thursday. Those in the no accumulation zone have a better chance of seeing snow with this weekend's storm.

Alert: The following area is under a new Tornado Watch until 4am. This includes parts of Alabama, Georgia and the Florida panhandle. It is very important that you have some way of receiving the warning while you are sleeping at night if you are in the watch area. 19 tornadoes have already touched down tonight. The old Christmas Day record was 12. Extensive damage has been reported. Heed all Warnings and do not become a statistic, Unlike summer and spring storms, these do not weaken overnight. Again we urge you if you are in the watch area to have a way of receiving a tornado warning if/when you go to sleep tonight.

Just a quick update for the weekend storm. The euro just came in and shows a nice size snow event for the NYC metro area this weekend. Meaning a 4-8 inch type event. Again I like to get this current storm out of the way first to see how it effects the "players" on the field. Glad to see the current storm behaved as it supposed to. Once a path was locked in, there is no way a "surprise" would occur. Again "no hype, just get the forecast right" is our motto. Watch those winds overnight and we will keep you updated on this weekend's potential snow event which is becoming more likely! - Adam

Local News media is beginning to catch on to the higher amounts
'We just got bumped a little higher, by about an inch or two. The storm just became a little too big for a broom. Dust off that shovel!' ---Meteorologist Mike Favetta

Tomorrow's snowy outlook only proves one thing. In spite of what we experienced last winter, shovelry is not dead.

Winter is when fathers shovel paths to the street so their children can get out to make money shoveling paths to the street.

This will be the first New Year's Eve in a long time without Dick Clark!, "Dropping the ball from a higher place this New Year's!!"

" Happy New Year! 2013 "

Snow cover this year vs last year at this point. Big Difference even with the Coastal areas not seeing much.

Cold across much of the U.S. today. It was -24 at Saranac Lake in NY earlier this morning. Next week temps will reverse course and soar into the 50's and 60's across much of the same areas in the cold this week.

The Tsunami warning has ended.
Earlier: A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southern Alaska on Saturday morning, and a Tsunami Warning is now in effect. See http://t.co/WNeBeb1m for alert areas. If you are in a warning area, get to higher ground now!

Today is the anniversary of the blizzard of 1996 which dumped up to two feet or more of snow over much of the East including the coast. Who remembers this storm?

Amazing REAL Pictures coming in from Australia of a massive dust storm. Very rare to see it over the ocean and land. They are currently battling never before seen heat as high a 129 degrees and wild fires too.

Another view of the massive dust storm in Australia. This one by air.

COMING SOON: THE FREEZIN' SEASON -- This is the 288-hour GFS for Wednesday, January 23 at 7 am ET. Were this to verify, wake-up temperatures would be: 32F at Jacksonville, Florida, 14F at Virginia Beach, -4F for the Hudson Valley(NY) and -22F for Massena, NY and the northern Adirondacks. I personally think that the intensity of this cold is somewhat overdone . . . but it does give you an idea of the magnitude of the cold air mass that is due to begin settling into the Northeast US late next week. --Joe Rao
