INFORMATION EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW........................
Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S. T. R.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke..

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you?

I'm a walking storeroom of facts..... I've just lost the key to the storeroom door.

Whoops! I just saw where I posted this in the wrong spot. Oh well.

NUTS TO YOU!

> To grind nuts for baking use a hand grinder for the best results. A blender tends to release too much of the oil.

> Do use a blender to make nut butters from cashews, peanuts, and other nuts. Add a dash of salt and perhaps a spoonful of honey, it desired.

> Spread a thin layer of finely ground nuts on the bottom of a pie to keep it from becoming soggy.

> Nuts are a delicious meat extender. Try adding 1/4 cup ground or finely chopped nuts to meat loaf to boost taste and nutrition.

Heartfelt Hint

<3 Make a heart-shaped cake. Bake a round cake and a square cake. When cool, cut the round cake in half. Turn the square cake to make a diamond shape and place half round on the upper sides of the diamond.

"If a man is unwilling to marry a girl before "hooking up", it doesn't matter what he says, he does not love her. He may lust after her, he only cares about himself. When a man genuinely loves a girl, he will cherish her, and protect her. He would never do anything that would disgrace her."

~Joshua Lawn; seems like a nice young man from the land of Facebook.

awww, sorry no. With this old contraption I doubt it would even pull up the paper online (tis hard enuff getting on their forum). But I read it in the Golden Days section (a whole insert all to itself that gives dates, etc for the upcoming elderly stuff).

It's advertising Shindig 2012, and features Easy Eddie and the Partyrockers; their pic is on the outside and inside. (Shindig 2012 is hosted by Dr Herschel/MaryBeth Harter at MBH Farm in Calhoun & catered by Catfish Charlies) It's to benefit the Ouachita Council on Aging.

This is the OCA site: http://ouachitacoa.com/
